Lisbon Wittgenstein Group

The Lisbon Wittgenstein Group (LWG) is a research platform within the Nova Institute of Philosophy (IFILNOVA), an excellence centre at the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities of the Nova University of Lisbon (FCSH/NOVA), funded by the Portuguese Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT). The purpose of the Lisbon Wittgenstein Group is to promote research on Wittgenstein’s thought and works, including his Nachlass, as well as on themes related to Wittgenstein’s philosophy which are on the agenda of contemporary philosophical debate. The Lisbon Wittgenstein Group hosts doctoral and postdoctoral projects, supporting applications for individual grants, and develops collective projects in collaboration with international institutions and partners. Conferences, lectures, seminars and workshops are regularly organized by the Lisbon Wittgenstein Group, which will host the 6 th Symposium of the International Ludwig Wittgenstein Society (ILWG) in 2017, devoted to the topic “Wittgenstein and Applied Epistemology”.
